100th Post and New York Advice

Wow, I can't believe I've made it to 100 posts.! When I started this blog I didn't know how many wonderful people and ideas it would introduce me to. It means so much to me when people stop by here. Thanks for visiting! There are a lot of great craft/sewing blogs out there and I hope that I make a positive contribution to such a supportive and inspiring community.

I've also received a lot of great advice through this blog and now I'm in need of some more. I'm going to New York for a New Year's Eve party. I've been to New York several times but have never taken advantage of its great fabric shopping opportunities. Do you have any recommendations for fabric stores I must visit? I'm currently in need of some crochet trim for a dress project in the works so I would also appreciate a recommendation for a great trim shop.

Happy Friday everyone!

Woo Hoo! Ok. If I could only go to three places they would be:

1. Metro Textiles
Lovely, knits at half the price I've seen them at Spandex House. Shirtings galors, great wools and sweater knits. Things range betwee 4 and 12 a yard. Can't beat the prices.
2. Spandex House
The place for anyhing with lycra. Including velour, athletic knits, t-shirt knits, striped knits, paisley prints, etc.
3. M&J Trims
So, you know how all nice high end retail has buckles and trims and amazing little doodads like that? This is where they get them.

Other people will suggest Parons for thier outlet and some other places. But, I find that with the three above I get all the fabrics I want and need. I personally wouldn't bother with Mood. Expensive and pretentious.

Oh, if you have time, I also like Ebad Fabrics and Chic Fabrics.

Ummm, and if you see some pale pink corderoy that would make a lovely trench style coat, call me.

Hi. I just found your blog through flikr and really like it. I moved from NYC a year ago. My favorite fabric shops were Mood Fabrics and B&J Fabrics. The fabrics are pricey, but they have a fantastic selection. For trims, I liked Daytona trims and M&J trimming.
